Getting acrylic nails at Dream Nails is just the beginning — how you care for them at home determines how long they last and how good they look. Here are 8 rules our nail artists give every acrylic nail client.
1. Avoid Water for the First 24 Hours
In the first 24 hours after application, the bond between acrylic and natural nail is still fully curing. Prolonged water exposure during this period can cause lifting. Keep hands dry.
2. Wear Gloves for Cleaning
Cleaning products, bleach, and even prolonged hot water exposure weaken acrylic. Rubber gloves are the most effective protection for your set.
3. Apply Cuticle Oil Daily
Cuticle oil keeps the nail plate flexible and prevents lifting at the edges where the acrylic meets the natural nail. Apply to the cuticle area morning and night.
4. Never Pick or Peel
Picking or peeling acrylic off strips the top layers of your natural nail with it. This is the primary cause of nail damage after extensions. Always come back for professional removal.
5. Book Your Refill on Time
Book your refill every 4 to 5 weeks. Leaving acrylic extensions to grow out too far creates leverage that stresses the natural nail and increases the risk of breakage.
6. Avoid Using Nails as Tools
Opening cans, scraping labels, or pressing buttons with the nail tip creates stress points that lead to breakage. Use your fingertips or actual tools.
7. If One Breaks, Book a Repair
A broken acrylic nail can be professionally repaired at Dream Nails for ₹150 per nail. Walk-ins are usually accommodated — WhatsApp ahead to check availability.
8. Use Acetone-Based Remover for Polish Only
Regular nail polish on top of acrylics can be removed with acetone-based remover. For the acrylic itself, only professional acetone-wrap removal is safe — never forcibly remove the extension.
