Start With Proper Preparation

The most important factor in gel longevity is nail preparation before application. At Dream Nails, we dehydrate and prime the natural nail plate before any gel touches it. This creates a clean, oil-free surface for maximum bond strength. Skipping this step is why gel lifts quickly at cheap salons.

Apply Cuticle Oil Daily

This is the single most impactful aftercare habit. Daily cuticle oil applied to the nail bed keeps the nail plate flexible and prevents the micro-cracking that leads to gel lifting. Clients who use cuticle oil consistently get significantly longer wear.

Protect Gel from Harsh Chemicals

Cleaning products, bleach, acetone, and prolonged exposure to hot water all weaken gel bonds. Wear rubber gloves for cleaning. Avoid soaking in baths or pools for extended periods in the first 24 hours after your appointment.

Avoid the Edges
