A refill — also called an infill — is the maintenance appointment that keeps your nail extensions looking fresh without a full removal and replacement. At Dream Nails, most clients book refills every 3 to 4 weeks. Here is everything you need to know.
What Happens at a Refill Appointment
When your natural nails grow, a gap appears at the base of your extensions where bare nail has emerged. At a refill, this gap is filled with fresh gel or acrylic material, shaped to blend seamlessly with the existing extension. The colour is refreshed and a new topcoat is applied. The result looks identical to a fresh set.
How Often to Book
Gel extensions: every 3 to 4 weeks. Acrylic extensions: every 4 to 5 weeks. The exact timing depends on your nail growth rate. Fast growers need refills closer to 3 weeks; slower growers can comfortably stretch to 4 to 5 weeks.
Refill vs New Set: Which Do You Need?
If your extensions are in good condition with no significant lifting, a refill is all you need. Price: Gel refill ₹799, Acrylic refill ₹1,000. If extensions are heavily lifted, very grown out (6 or more weeks), or you want to change shape dramatically, a full new set is recommended. Price: Gel ₹999, Acrylic ₹1,400.
Can You Change Colour at a Refill?
Yes. The colour and nail art are refreshed at every refill appointment. You can keep the same design or change completely — same price.
What to Avoid Before Your Refill
Do not cut or file your extensions at home before your refill. Do not use acetone on your extensions before coming in. Come with clean nails — no heavy hand cream right before your appointment.
