Kolkata's festival calendar is one of the richest in India — and each major festival has developed its own nail aesthetic at Dream Nails. Here is the full guide to festive nails across the Kolkata year.
Poila Baisakh (April) — Bengali New Year
Whites, reds, and golds dominate. Classic choices: deep red gel with gold foil accents, white French tips with red detailing, mustard and gold for those wearing Jamdani or Tant sarees. Book 10 to 14 days in advance.
Durga Puja (October) — The Big One
The most nail-conscious five days of the Kolkata year. Clients book for cat eye nails, chrome ombré, 3D florals, and jelly nails. Each day of Puja often gets a different look. Book 3 weeks in advance minimum.
Diwali (October/November)
Sparkle and glitter dominate. Gold chrome, holographic glitter, and deep jewel tones (burgundy, navy, emerald) are the most popular requests. The festival of lights calls for nails that reflect light.
Eid (March/April)
Kolkata's Eid nail requests lean toward intricate designs — delicate geometric patterns inspired by mehndi, gold foil accents, and French tips with gold or coloured edges. Soft pinks and nudes with elegant detailing.
Christmas (December)
Red and green (festive but can be done elegantly), holographic glitter, and French tips with gold glitter tips. More playful nail art requests come in around Christmas than any other time of year.
Wedding Season (Year-round, Peak October to February)
Bridal nail art appointments run throughout the year with peaks in October to February and April to June. Book at least 2 weeks ahead. WhatsApp photos of your outfit and jewellery for a coordinated design recommendation.
